The browser address bar turning green immediately indicates a trusted web site that will provides you with a safe and secure online shopping experience. A padlock icon appearing in the bottom right hand corner of the screen also indicates that the online portal is secure.
Validate the vendor
Always buy from a reputed shopping site like the ones that you have heard of through friends and trusted acquaintance. You should check their online ratings and reviews from other customers and must take red flags seriously. You can then make an appropriate decision about the site and decide whether or not it’s safe to shop there. Make sure that the website has an authentic and valid phone number and mailing address.
Check for two-factor authentication
A growing number of sites are now beginning to accept a second form of user authentication that comes from devices such as a token, credit-card form factor, a USB drive, or even your cell phone. Although this is still relatively new in India, it will be a matter of time before most websites offer it.
